Practical guide

How to show up in AI search.

AI assistants need clear facts, accessible pages, and independent trust signals before they can confidently recommend a business. These are the foundations worth fixing first.

By GPTmyWebsite Editorial Team ·

1. State exactly what the business does

Use one clear page title, descriptive section headings, and direct language about services, customers, and locations served. Important facts should appear as text—not only inside images, animations, or downloadable files.

2. Make those facts machine-readable

Add accurate Organization or LocalBusiness structured data, canonical URLs, and descriptive page metadata. Use FAQ markup only when the same questions and answers are visible to visitors.

3. Keep discovery paths open

Maintain a valid XML sitemap with honest modification dates. Keep robots.txt intentional, allow the search and AI crawlers you want to reach the site, and avoid accidentally blocking important pages.

4. Prove the information is trustworthy

Identify who publishes important content, show when it was reviewed, keep business details consistent, and earn references from relevant third-party sites. Authority and real audience activity take time; they cannot be replaced with markup.
